I’m on the wireless*

* In the days before Web 2.0 and Twitter and such, the wireless was what old-timers called the radio**
** In the days before DAB and podcasts and such, the radio was a device that sat on your kitchen windowsill and received crackly broadcasts of news, The Archers and popular music of the day.
Anyway, BBC Radio 4 are broadcasting a new series of their sketch show, Recorded For Training Purposes, over the next few weeks and one of the episodes will feature one of my sketches. If that sounds vague, that’s ‘cos it is. They seem to be terribly busy sticking all of the various bits together and haven’t been able to say when mine will appear. I have to sit by my computer, obsessively refreshing the page with the running orders until I see my name appear, which is fine – might as well be that page as any other.
UPDATE: I really should have mentioned that the show, Recorded For Training Purposes, is on BBC Radio 4 at 23:00 on Thursdays.
Ooh – big congrats sir! The bbc are soooo disorganised. Send linkage when up.
Cheers, RM. Will endeavour to do so.
They can be as disorganised as they like – the BBC are giving me money for writing stuff. I’m still trying to come to terms with that. Big deal for me.
That is a big deal! Will we recognise any of the characters?
Doubt it. It’s about a crazy lady who’s obsessed with taking pictures of a toy pig. Pretty fantastical stuff that doesn’t happen in reality.
Good stuff, Gerry. Would it be a possibility to record your sketch when they broadcast it and post it up as an mp3 just incase we miss it?
Ister: I’m not sure if there are any legal issues around it but even so, from a technical perspective, it would be awkward for me to do so as I can’t even stream the thing on the net from outside the UK. The show will be available on the iPlayer thing for a week after broadcast though, so you could check it out there if you miss it.
ha G. . . I have i player thankfully, thanks to mod cons oe phns today. . .please let ur know. . I like a keen gander. . .sounds good. . X
Chazza: If I know, I’ll update this post and will Twitter and Facebook it. Mind you, the BBC still haven’t published the writers’ run-list for the show that aired last week so there’s an excellent chance I won’t know in advance. Or at all, if I forget to tune in.
