Think we might have the same greenhouse, mine is plastic, too. I wanted a different one (which looked a bit more substantial) but it was sold out in all the Argos shops, so I'm making do with this one. Would love a proper one but, alas, they're quite expensive.

And it's a definite Yes on the River Cottage front. We'll be getting a couple of pigs next. Or maybe sheep or goats. Chickens would be cool, but I fear the neighbours would object. To any of the above, really.

I kinda like Beeny. I don't manage to follow all the conversations as sometimes there's too much to catch up on all at once.

Welcome, fellow small-holder (watching too much River Cottage, I think). I know what you mean about the greenhouse thing. Also, I just bought a cheap one but it's so flimsy that it concerns me. The panes are just floppy plastic. They make a lot of noise when it's windy. False economy, I fear.

As for Beeny, the difference is that he's not as restricted by social niceties. I'm far to nice too tell people what I really think. Mostly.

Wow, you've got quite a crop going there. Afraid I'm only really getting started this year (last year I only managed a few herbs and some lettuce) but I'm going for cauliflower, broccoli, spring onions, radishes, basil, rosemary, chard and some mixed lettuce. Oh, and I found a really old pack of cress somewhere, way out of date. I just dumped them all in a pot - we'll see what happens. Also bought a little greenhouse, in case this summer is the same as last year's. So far all it's doing is keeping the wind and rain off.

Have to say, this Beenfeeld guy sounds/reads so much like you that I'm starting to get confused.

Oh, and I can't comment on the similarity of behinds you mentioned as I've neither seen Felicity Kendal's nor your wife's. So that's best left to yourself to decide.
